Peter Edwards is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computing Science at the University of Aberdeen. He has for many years worked at the interface of distributed computing and artificial intelligence, including the development of software technologies to support scientific activities; he also has a long standing interest in computational models of the scientific process. His current activities focus on the role of argumentation in supporting e-social science, as well the use of ontologies to enable e-social science infrastructure. He is a member of the research committee of the National Centre for e-Social Science and is Director of the PolicyGrid e-Social Science Research Node.
Alun Preece is also a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computing Science at the University of Aberdeen. His research interests focus on supporting the management of knowledge distributed across a network/Web/Grid, using a combination of knowledge-based, agent-based, and Web-based technologies. Recently he has been involved in a range of eScience projects, applying these technologies in domains such as biology, telecommunications services, and social simulation. He is a member of the service delivery board of the National Centre for e-Social Science and is a co-investigator on the PolicyGrid e-Social Science Research Node.
