FINGRID: Financial Information Grid
Principal Investigator – Prof. Khurshid Ahmad, formerly University of Surrey
Contact – Dr Lee Gillam l.gillam @ surrey.ac.uk
The aim of this project was to develop a Grid-based demonstrator for sharing and analysing real-time financial data streams, time series of financial returns and financial news. This grid will help economists in testing and evaluating theories about the nature of financial data and to study decision-making in one of the key sectors of the UK economy: the financial markets. The key objectives were:
- To create a Grid environment based on Open Source Grid Middleware
- To provide a demonstrable software application, on the Grid, for analysing financial information in the form of quantitative data (time series) and qualitative data (financial/political news)
- To evaluate the benefits of the approach
